A Tall Brew of the Day

The rest of my summer days have been filled with coffee, stains, coffee grinds in places they shouldn't be and hat hair. Needless to say, I have managed to find myself a job. It was wonderful to get out of the apron on my day off and throw on something that didn't smell of coffee.
Anywho, is it just me, or is anyone else starting to smell autumn in the air? I am restless to layer up and bundle, and to see the leaves change all sorts of glorious colors! Albeit, with the limited amount of nature around me i'll definitely miss the transition of autumn in the berkshires. It's going to be weird when September rolls around and I don't have to pack up to go back to school.

I got this dress in a vicious bidding war a couple of years ago on ebay. I can't remember the last time I got on ebay and had a nice little battle, I miss it. I had forgotten I even had the dress until I started unloading boxes of old clothing a while back.

A Rainy Explorer

I took these photos last week during one of the many rainy days we had and completely forgot to post them! I had originally paired different shoes with this outfit but they were soaked within 5 minutes of walking outside WITH an umbrella. So naturally I ran back home and searched for my trusty rain boots! After which the rain and I had a fair fight, I won of course... well sort of. Anywho, when I got back the rain had stopped and I decided to take pictures in my bathroom. My mother laughed the entire time, especially when I fell in the tub twice.

These shorts are a bit big on me, I must alter them at some point, but they were on sale and I love them! They kind of make me feel like a bit of an explorer actually, like indiana jones but not really at all haha.

Here's a fun fact, well maybe not so fun. I've had that umbrella for 6 years now, and it is still holding up like a trooper. I don't know about you, but I break and lose umbrellas like nobody's business.

Sweet Sleeves

I can't believe we are already nearing the end of July, soon fall will be here and I will be on high speed working like crazy on Grad school applications and trying to get that darn UK Visa. On the bright side, fall will be here! My favorite season of all, nothing beats those colors and the brisk smell of the air getting cooler.
This past weekend was pretty fun despite some plans falling through. I went out on the first family dinner (just my mother, brother and I) in over 10 years and it was pretty fun, can't remember the last time we even sat at home to eat together.

I love this dress, despite the fact that I have to cinch it in the back because its a tad too big. The sleeves sometimes feel a bit awkward but I love how they look! Also, can you tell I have a thing for belting my dresses? Haha.

I like the idea of mixing browns in one outfit, specially with the color navy. I don't know what it is about it but I thoroughly enjoy the navy/brown combo.

Old Haunts

Today was not cool by any means, but it felt like such a relaxing day to lounge around and take lovely walks. I also decided to explore the backyard of my building, something I haven't done in over 8 years. It took a fair bit of sneaking around to get there considering there is now a particularly angry dog guarding the usual way in. My friends and I used to spend hours on end making imaginary worlds and characters, playing all the games we could think of in that yard, but I guess once we all started high school we felt too old to be out there. I wonder if at that point in their lives some people's imagination take stronger hits than others? To this day I still have a rather overactive imagination, which is probably why I want to work with kids.

I realized today how much easier it would be if someone else was taking my photos, they probably wouldn't be as blurry. I am a lot better at taking photos of others, and up until I started this blog I disliked being anywhere but behind the camera. I guess this serves as a way to get better acquainted with my tripod and get more comfortable in front of the camera.

A Personal Sunshine

With all the rain that we've been having I felt the need to add a little brightness to my outfit. Unfortunately the brightness of my cardigan did not help me when I was caught in the downpour that ultimately killed my umbrella.
The fluttery sleeves of this cardigan are what caught my attention when I bought it, and every time I wear it and the wind blows I feel a bit magical because the sleeves flutter their little hearts off! It is as though I had little wings hehe. I don't normally wear yellow (or mustardy yellow in this case) because I feel like I look awkward in it, but I thought i'd give it a go.

I love this necklace to death! It looks as though its a locket but its not! And it amuses me when friends automatically reach for it to see what photo I may have inside.

Is there any color in particular that you feel you can't agree with as far as clothing goes? Another one of mine is red, it just looks weird against my skin tone, which is upsetting considering all the lovely articles of clothing I have to pass off.

Trespassing

Last night my friends and I decided to take a little stroll at a nearby beach that happened to be closed. First we tried the front entrance and were greeted by a lovely police car, which led to our paranoid selves to run and hide in wild bushes and trees near the mini highway. With our hearts pumping a mile a minute, we figured out how to get in through a path that was a 15 or so minute walk away. Once we got to the path that led to a sort of mini beach, we decided to take another path nearby that turned out to be unnaturally dark and sketchy. With my friend's cadet skills guiding us we reached the end of the path, only to start running back for dear life when we heard someone in the bushes.

This is such a simple outfit, and was quickly thrown together. I feel that most summer outfits are like that, you have to think of what will cause you to melt a little less while you step out into the blazing summer heat. Luckily it was a relatively cool night, a tad humid but cooler than the past couple of days.

About 10 minutes after these photos were taken my hair poofed up and became larger than life. Humidity and sea towns are my hair's worst enemies. Does anyone's hair do the same thing in seatowns? Or is it just my wonderful genes?

A Late 4th of July

I don't usually do anything special for the 4th of July, aside from hanging out with a couple of friends. This year I decided to take a friend who is in from out of town to the annual 4th of July fireworks in New York. The last time I went to see the show was years ago, and this year reminded me why! haha, it is a mad house, but thoroughly enjoyable with good company.

Nothing better than dirty dog on a 100 degree day!

Almost time for the show to start! Look at the masses!

I've lived in New York practically my whole life, and to this day I still yell "NYPD Freeze!" in my head whenever I see a cop car!

I'll admit, one of the things being back home has made me realize is that the best part of this city is just how different everyone around you is. You can be in a train cart with a total of 5 people, and they could all have such different stories and represent various countries, or they could have so much in common with you. Some days it's nice to just be around complete strangers and let your imagination run wild, its one of the great things about life.

A New Beginning

I feel like this is the first day of school, entering a new realm basically. The last time I had a blog was in high school, when Xanga was still cool. So why am I starting up again? Well, for the past year or so i've become hooked on fashion, lifestyle, cooking and photography blogs and I figured I'd give it a go myself. I will have a mixture of adventures, cooking experiments, fashion, and photography in here, and by no means do I consider myself an expert in these things (except adventures, I usually find myself in the most random situations hehe).

Now, who am I you ask?
I'm a quirky, odd, not so coordinated 22 year old.
Here are a few tidbits about me:
I like long strolls in supermarkets and stores.
I like the smell of tomato plants (I know, i'm a weirdo).
I like to bake.
I have a permanent travel bug.
My first language is Spanish (can you guess where I am from? :])
I can never have enough dresses.
I ramble a lot.
I love art.
I can't whistle.
I learned how to ride a bike when I was around 13 or 14 years old.

Well, thats just a few tidbits about me. Now i've got the awkward first post out of the way, and am off to make the most of this 100 degree weather without completely melting.
